Menu: Bulgaria

MENU

We've been huddled around the air conditioner for, oh, about 2 months now. That's why, this week, I'm making a completely "cool" dinner, made possible by Bulgaria. Thank goodness for chilled soup, dips, drinks, and pastries. Mmm. P.S. This meal just so happens to be vegetarian (with one vegan dish). Chilled Cucumber Soup (Tarator) [Recipe] Refreshing blend of Bulgarian yogurt and cucumber, with a hint of garlic. Garnish with dill and/or crushed walnuts. Recipe: Bosnian Finger Sausages (Cevapi)

Recipe: Bolivian Avocado and Tomato Salad

Ingredients: 2 avocados, halved and pitted minced red onion, to taste 2 small tomatoes 2 sprigs fresh parsley, minced 1 Tbsp olive oil 2 tsp … [Read more...]

Although most people enjoy a good meatball, entirely too much effort goes into making them. Intended to be comfort food, even homemade street-food, meatballs should not be an all day affair. Here are my simple tips for how to make great meatballs, from any … [Read more...]

Recipe: Pa amb Tomaquet (Bread with garlic & tomato)

Pan al Tomaquet

Serves 4 Pa amb Tomaquet is like an Andorran bruschetta. Instead of piling the bread high with ingredients, however, simply rub thick slices of country bread with garlic and tomato. Ingredients: 4 thick slices country bread 4 garlic cloves, peeled 1 heirloom tomato or vine ripe tomato, halved 1/4 cup olive oil Salt Fresh cracked pepper Method: 1. Toast bread under broiler (or on a hot grill) for about 30 seconds per side 2. Bring to table. Give everyone a … [Read more...]
